Now that we’re well into autumn, your skin might be stressed out from the weather change. Today, I caught up with Katie Matten, our Skincare Therapist at the Bondi Junction skin clinic to discuss Autumn skincare trends.
With over 10 years in the industry, the beautiful Katie knows what’s hot and what’s not in skincare, no matter your age, gender or skin type. Here’s her top treatments for keeping your skin in tip-top shape this autumn:
Laser Hair Removal
“If you have areas with unwanted hair, Autumn’s the best time to treat them with laser hair removal. Laser hair removal will help with longer-term hair reduction, without the fuss (and increased pain!) of regular waxing. Since it’s getting cooler, you’re likely to be wearing more layers and covering yourself up so less skin is exposed to sunlight (which makes laser hair reduction less effective, and can result in complications.) At You by Sia, we have two main requirements before you come in for Laser Hair Removal:
- Waxing is a big no go. Waxing, threading or plucking the area removes the hairs’ roots – which we need to remain intact for the laser to be effective. If you need to, you can shave the area, which doesn’t affect the hair root. Shaving can even improve results, as it gives us a more precise area to target.
- Avoid sun exposure for approximately 4 weeks ahead of treatment as well as during. By keeping the skin protected and un-tanned it increases laser productivity and avoids sun damage to fragile, treated skin.
Following these two simple rules will help you get the most out of your Laser Hair Removal treatments.”
Dermal Sonic Facials
“The temperature changes also impacts your skin in autumn. Clients have complained about dehydrated skin or duller complexions. I’d really recommend our Dermal Sonic Facials which uses ultrasonic frequencies to cleanse and refresh the skin, then infusing it with essential vitamins, antioxidants and other skin loving ingredients. Say hello to a healthy Autumn glow and goodbye to lacklustre skin!”
“We use the revolutionary Regen Pen to address common autumn skin conditions, like blackheads, scarring and wrinkles. Skin needling shows similar results to chemical and C02 laser resurfacing treatments, without the need for recovery or downtime. I recommend this treatment to clients over autumn and winter, because it’s best to keep treated skin out of direct sunlight right after treatment. Of course you could do this in summer too…but who wants to avoid the sun on a glorious summer’s day?!”
